Jackson Rancheria Casino Resort welcomes the R&B legends The Chi-Lites featuring Marshall Thompson to the Grand Oak Ballroom stage on Thursday, February 19, 2015.
The Chi-Lites were originally formed in Chicago in 1959 as the “Hi-Lites,” but they incorporated the “C” as homage to their hometown in 1964. Their first USA hit, “Give It Away,” paved the road to success for the Chi-Lites. A succession of hits followed, including “Have You Seen Her,” “Oh Girl,” and “(For God’s Sake) Give More Power To The People.”
Although the band had some troubling times with their recording label, in 1980, the group signed with Chi-Sound and rediscovered their groove. From “Hot On A Thing (Called Love),” to “”Are You My Woman,” which you can also hear on Beyoncé’s album “Crazy In Love,” the Chi-Lites continued their work as legends of R&B. In 2000, the Chi-Lites were inducted into the Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame and in 2003, Miramax featured them in the docu-movie titled “Only the Strong Survive.”
Will call opens at 5 p.m., doors open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m. Beer, wine, and food will be available.
Tickets are on sale now starting at $25 for Dreamcatcher’s Club® members, available only at the Casino Cashier’s Cage, and starting at $30 for non-Dreamcatcher’s Club® members, available at the Casino Cashier’s Cage or online at JacksonCasino.com.
