Jackson Rancheria Casino Resort welcomes blues & ballads artist Jimmie Vaughan to the Grand Oak Ballroom stage on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 7 p.m.
Vaughan’s love affair with the blues and rock’n’roll began when he was a child living in Dallas. Listening to the radio, seeing Elvis on the Ed Sullivan Show, and watching his uncles play country tunes on their guitars all shaped Jimmie’s musical interests. He was given his first guitar while home from school with a broken collarbone. He taught himself to play a few Jimmy Reed songs and that was it.
Vaughan began playing in the Lone Star State with a series of bands, most notably The Chessman, who opened for the one and only Jimi Hendrix. In 1974, Vaughan met and started the Fabulous Thunderbirds with vocalist and harmonica player Kim Wilson. The T-Birds stayed with the group through their 1986 release of Tuff Enough until he joined his kid brother, Stevie Ray, on the Family Style album, which was a huge hit after its release in 1990. Each of the songs on Jimmie Vaughan’s new album, Blues, Ballads, and Favorites, has a special meaning and place during the entirety of Vaughan’s career.
Will Call opens at 5 p.m., doors open at 6 p.m., and the show begins at 7 p.m. Beer, food, and wine will be available for purchase.
